Student membership is available to full or part time students pursuing a degree in production and inventory management, logistics, operations, or a related field at an accredited college or university. Annual student membership dues are at the reduced rate of $20.00 Student members receive the same benefits as individual members plus additional student-specific benefits such as networking through student chapters, scholarships, and eligibility for participation in the Scholars Education Program.

Affiliated Student Chapters

APICS has more than 170 affiliated student chapters on college campuses throughout North America. A student chapter's affiliation with a parent chapter provides students with access to educational programs, networking opportunities, certification exams, and other resources that will help build a stronger career.

Scholars Education Program

The APICS Scholars Education Program selects students to attend the APICS International Conference and Exposition to serve as educational session aides with expenses fully or partially paid by APICS. Students have the opportunity to attend presentations and meet with featured and educational session speakers, network with conference attendees, and visit the APICS exposition.

Educational and Research (E&R) Foundation

The APICS Educational and Research (E&R) Foundation offers many opportunities for students to expand their résumés. Students are eligible for

• The Donald W. Fogarty International Student Paper Competition recognizes excellence in research relevant to the field of resource management. Cash awards are given for the best papers submitted at the regional and national levels.
• E&R Foundation Grants are available ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.

Members-Only Web Section

Student members gain access to the Members-Only Web site. They can use the site to

• research pressing issues using the searchable Publications Database
• stay abreast of industry terms and definitions using the online APICS Dictionary obtain
• white papers and other valuable industry information.

APICS Career Center

Student members have full access to the APICS Career Center. They can use the site to get a jump-start on their career by applying for jobs online and posting their résumés online for review by potential employers. Student members can also subscribe to the job alerts service which provides e-mail alerts when new listings are posted that meet specific criteria.

APICS Annual International Conference

Students pay just $99 to attend the annual APICS International Conference and Exposition. More than 5,000 professionals who come together to explore the latest industry trends and techniques attend this premier event.

APICS Certification Programs

Not only can students pursue an APICS certification program to expand their skill set and become more marketable, they receive college credit for doing so. APICS members pursuing certification enjoy savings averaging 25 percent on certification preparation classes, review materials, and testing fees. Members can more effectively work through the certification process by taking chapter review courses and participating in study groups and on electronic discussion lists. Interesting Fact: According to a recent APICS salary survey, respondents with a CPIM credential earned up to 29 percent more than non-certified professionals.

APICS-The Performance Advantage

Students stay current on industry trends and developments through the free monthly, award-winning magazine APICS-The Performance Advantage. It features case studies, best practices, and solutions for professionals involved in enterprise management, supply chain management, logistics/warehouse management, and production/inventory management.

Electronic Discussion Lists

Share challenges and solutions with other professionals electronically through APICS' 10 targeted electronic discussion lists. These online forums provide a quick means to post questions and receive valuable feedback from thousands of other subscribers via e-mail.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs)

Benefit from concept and industry-specific information by joining one or more specific industry/interest groups (SIGs). For a nominal fee per group, student members may add up to eight SIGs to their membership package for market-specific information.

Constraints Management (CM) SIG appropriate for those interested in becoming theory of constraints experts

Engineered Products, Aerospace, and Defense (EPAD) SIG for professionals in high-technology project manufacturing industries such as aerospace, defense, communications, and medical equipment

Lean (LEAN) SIG for those who produce discrete units, planned and executed according to a schedule, through process assembly or custom manufacturing

Process Industries (PI) SIG designed to assist professionals and organizations working with chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, plastics, glass, rubber, paper, and biotechnology

Remanufacturing and Service Parts (REMANSP) SIG to enhance the success of those who work in remanufacturing, repair, reprocessing, overhaul services, and asset recovery in automotive, electronics, commercial aviation, and defense industries

Service (SVC) SIG for professionals involved with product development, logistics, customer support, and other service activities in manufacturing as well as sectors such as health care, retail, utilities, banking, government, and professional firms

Small Manufacturing (SM) SIG for professionals whose companies make less than $50 million in annual sales or that have fewer than 200 employees, especially suppliers to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) or assembly facilities

Textile and Apparel (TA) SIG for professionals and organizations working in soft goods such as clothing, footwear, upholstery, and industrial textiles.
