Plans and implements activities related to the procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment. Directs the activities of buyers and purchasing assistants to accomplish company objectives. Reviews and approves purchases up to a specified dollar amount. Negotiate major contracts involving large dollar amounts. Develops forward looking, best in class policies and procedures to better position the supply chain operation for growth. Monitors cost, schedule and other performance metrics of suppliers. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments to maintain inventories at planned levels. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and develop alternate sources to ensure the smooth flow of material to support production requirements.
- Drive the creation of processes aimed at reducing complexity and improving efficiency.
- Assume a lead role on selected Commodity Core Teams.
- Monitor supplier performance as it relates to core performance metrics.
- Meet with key suppliers regularly to discuss supplier performance and stay abreast of business developments.
- Identify and pursue cost reduction opportunities to support purchasing productivity objectives.
- Develop and maintain departmental metrics to monitor the effectiveness of assigned responsibilities.
- Responsible for supplier price negotiations.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of purchasing experience in a medium/high volume manufacturing environment, preferably in the semiconductor/electronics industry.
- BA/BS Business or equivalent.
- MBA, CPM or CPIM preferred.
- Engineering degree a big plus.
- Good computer skills to include SAP, Excel, and Access.
- Familiarity with Inventory and Supply Chain Management best practices.
- Strengths in cost analysis, change management, and quantitative analysis.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.

- Ability to multi-task and manage changing targets and goals.
