This is the primary Supply Chain person responsible for material sourcing. Responsible to ensure that items sourced meet all quality and cost objectives. Works directly with engineering teams to identify supply chain needs, and proactively provide solution. Identifies gaps in the nLIGHT supply chain, and pursues project and plans to close. Work with Program Management to ensure that material costs support product contribution margins.

Responsibilities:

  • Generate sourcing activity based on business priorities, including new projects, second sourcing and cost reduction.
  • Find potential suppliers and obtain quotations.
  • Evaluate quotations and negotiate with potential suppliers to obtain best pricing, delivery terms, payment term etc.
  • Select suitable supplier based on price, quality, capacity and delivery. Maintain potential source database.
  • Initiate components qualification and follow-up the qualification status. Coordinate with Engineering to develop and qualify new suppliers.
  • Work with QA and engineering to conduct supplier development evaluation, such as on-site audit.
  • Serve as liaison between suppliers and QA/Engineering
  • Communicate with internal customers on schedules, costs and quality issues.
  • Special projects as requested.

Requirements:

  • 4 year degree in Business or a technical field
  • Preferred: MBA or advanced degree in Operations Management; APICS
  • 5-7 years experience in a Supply Chain Management, Sourcing, Project Management role in a manufacturing organization
  • Successful experience in sourcing both mechanical and electronic commodities.
  • Strong communication, presentation and organization skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Solid leadership and project management skills
  • Good problem solving, decision making, time-management and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of ISO9000.
  • Good command of both written and spoken English.
  • Good PC skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, etc.)
