This is a supply chain position with service responsibilities. This position is involved in most aspects of the supply chain including CM relationship management, new product introductions, initial and ongoing price negotiations, planning and forecasting, inventory management, inventory levels, service obligations, product quality and product EOL planning. Essentially handles day to day execution of product from the supplier to the customer and when the customer needs the product serviced. This role works closely with Service, Sales Operations, Product Marketing and Logistics to understand and leverage the full product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Communicates any Supply Chain and Service related issues to the business and other related functions and work on issue resolution
- Coordinates Contract Manufacturer and 3PL activities
- Coordinates inventory management betweem intransit, warehouses, and customer sourcing points and replenishment according to the fulfillment strategies
- Supports the global demand and supply planning activities from a regional basis
- Participates in the product life cycle management and initiate / supervise material related MOCs
- Contributes to business processes and work with sales and marketing on execution
- Makes sure sourcing decisions are communicated and the required data changes including country of origin determination are carried out
- Performs activities related to procurement of materials, parts, components, and equipment
- Ensures the activities of manufacturers, 3PL, and service providers accomplish InFocus objectives
- Performs purchases up to a specified dollar amount
- Monitors the cost, schedule and performance aspects of subcontracts
- Coordinates purchasing activities with sales operations, product marketing, and finance to maintain planned inventory levels
- Plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels
- Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments
- Ensures that Service Provider is delivering according to SLA
- Ensures that all components of the product are ready for service, parts lists, call center product training, repair center training, cost of repair and manufacturing warranty alignment
- Must stay abreast of supply chain and service solutions and industry best practices, and recommend and refer as appropriate to achieve business goals
- Must stay current on global business trends, business management best practices and methodologies pertaining to business process design
- Position requires the ability to work in an individual and team environment with peers and superiors
- Must demonstrate the ability to motivate and promote teamwork
- Must demonstrate the ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and tact working with employees, management and business partners
- Must have the ability to work flexible schedules, as required to accommodate calls with Europe and Asia
- Maintain extensive and effective communications with internal and external contacts
- Must be able to handle some confidential and sensitive information
- Decisions made may have a significant impact on asset use and operational effectiveness
Requirements:
- BS/BA in business or engineering
- 6 or more years experience working with manufacturing, OEM in China, and supply chain
- Strong analytical skills; strong communication, presentation, writing, and negotiations skills
- Also needed are: strong abstraction, organization and simplification skills; detailed understanding of business processes; Chinese Contract Manufacturing domain knowledge
- Must be skilled at identifying exception conditions
- Must possess integrated supply chain business knowledge, superior negotiation skills, facilitation, presentation, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Must possess knowledge of product repair and maintenance
- Must be able to work alone or in teams of peer and superiors; speak one-on-one and lead small teams and/or large groups of co-workers, senior management, customers or vendors and make definitive and discerning decisions based upon consequential organizational requirements and represents them with proof throughout discussions and group decision making
