Lead start-up manufacturing implementation with third party manufacturing partners, quality process implementation, and supply chain strategy for the company’s entry into a new product category. On-going responsibilities include supplier development, data collection and analysis, and cost reduction initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop inspection processes and tools for key characteristics
  • Develop data collection, analysis, and reporting for quality statistics
  • Coordinate with Product Design on tool qualification
  • Create final inspection checklist for pre-shipment product
  • Create incoming inspection checklist for finished goods
  • Map raw material and component supply chain
  • Create raw material inspection procedures and tracking
  • Participate in process development and problem solving
  • Review/approve manufacturing partner processes
  • Evaluate out of spec product and recommend disposition
  • Participate in development of packaging and process
  • Determine the most effective sourcing and assembly plan given globally sourced components
  • Coordinate with finance to understand financial consequences of sourcing decisions/recommendations
  • Coordinate/understand regulatory issues surrounding transport of hazardous materials
  • Lead the creation and set-up of initial assembly facility
  • Participate in the creation of long term assembly and warranty facility
  • Develop/qualify secondary sources for key components
  • Significant international travel is required.

Requirements:

  • Entrepreneurial orientation
  • Demonstrated track record of implementing manufacturing processes and controls with international third party partners, particularly Asia
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing issues with injection molded plastics and electronic components
  • Ability to understand the big picture and execute on the details
  • High energy level
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to ensure common understanding of plans and issues
  • Ability to create project schedules and implement on time
  • Strong financial skills with ability to anticipate impact of decisions/changes
  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and passion for success
  • Experience in a successful start-up a plus
  • 8+ years in hard goods manufacturing management with demonstrated progress
  • Foreign language a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or equivalent required.
